A Kindergarten Experience Where Your Child Feels at Home!
Kindergarten at Christ-King Catholic School is where the love of learning begins! From the moment our Kinder Kids walk through the door, they are welcomed into a warm, safe, and engaging environment where they can grow, explore, and thrive. Our days start with a "soft start" routine to ease into learning, followed by a mix of hands-on literacy and numeracy activities that build strong foundational skills. But Kindergarten is so much more than just academics—our students get to experience library time, Makerspace, physical education, music, art, and creative play centers throughout the week. With three recesses a day, plenty of movement, and lots of time for social interaction, kids have the chance to build friendships, problem-solve, and develop independence in a fun and supportive setting.
At CKCS, we believe Kindergarten should be an exciting and positive introduction to school life. We support each child at their own pace, encouraging them to take risks, embrace mistakes, and build resiliency. We also know that a child’s first school experience is important for the whole family, so we keep parents in the loop every step of the way. And at the end of the year, we celebrate all of our Kinder Kids’ hard work with a special graduation, marking just the beginning of their journey as lifelong learners.
Come see what makes CKCS such a special place—we’d love to welcome your family into ours!
Meet Our Teacher
Since 2012, Mrs. Barnes has been a key part of the Christ-King Catholic School team. Her classroom is a place where students love to be, thanks to a perfect balance of engaging routines, hands-on activities, and plenty of excitement!
With Mrs. Barnes, every day is an adventure in learning. Whether students are going on a "shape hunt" through the school, diving into a creative project, or exploring new concepts through play, they are constantly engaged in meaningful experiences.
But Kindergarten isn’t just about fun—it’s also about growing in responsibility. Mrs. Barnes helps students develop independence, teamwork, and confidence, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, classroom, and daily routines.
She creates a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
Our Classroom
Our Kindergarten classroom at Christ-King Catholic School is a space where young learners can feel at home. It’s bright, open, and designed with little ones in mind—there’s plenty of room for gathering on the carpet, working at tables, and exploring through hands-on play. We switch up seating arrangements to help kids build new friendships, and there’s a cozy corner for when they need a quiet moment. Every part of the room is set up to make learning engaging, comfortable, and fun.
The classroom is full of materials that spark creativity and curiosity. Kids can dive into dramatic play with a kitchen set and toy cars, get creative at the craft and painting stations, or work on puzzles and hands-on activities that build early literacy and numeracy skills. Whether they’re exploring with manipulatives, sharing stories, or using their imagination, there’s always something exciting to do.
To help our Kinder Kids feel independent and at ease, the classroom has its own private entrance, an in-class bathroom, and lockers right inside the room. This setup gives them a sense of security while gently introducing them to school routines. From the first day of Kindergarten, they’re in a space made just for them—a place where they can learn, grow, make friends, and feel supported every step of the way.
Support for Every Little Learner – Because Early Intervention Matters!
At CKCS, we understand that early support plays a crucial role in helping children build the skills they need for lifelong success. That’s why we’re proud to provide access to specialized paraprofessional services for eligible students, ensuring they receive the right help at the right time.
Our Kindergarten students have access to Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Occupational Therapy (OT) services, supporting their development in communication, motor skills, and overall growth. We are fortunate to partner with Communication Options Inc. and Achieve OT Ltd., who visit our school monthly to work with our students.
In addition, our in-house Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP-A) works with our Kinder-Kids each week, offering hands-on guidance to help them reach their full potential.
Research shows that early intervention makes a significant difference in a child’s ability to learn and succeed. At CKCS, we are dedicated to creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment where every child can grow with confidence and thrive!
Kindergarten School Fees
In Kindergarten, there is a small school fee at the beginning of the year: $12.50 for technology and $8 for an agenda. Throughout the year, additional expenses may arise for items such as field trips, the yearbook, school pictures, and more. Many of these costs are optional, giving families the flexibility to choose what works best for them. We always strive to keep expenses reasonable and make sure every child can participate in the exciting opportunities we offer.
Kindergarten Information Night
We will be hosting a Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, April 16th. Our presentation will start at 5:30pm. We will cover all the information you need to know about Kindergarten at CKCS! Parents can also check out the classroom, meet Mrs. Barnes and ask their questions!
