Welcome to Little Steps – Where Learning Begins with Play!

At Little Steps, we believe that the best learning happens through play, exploration, and imagination! As a licensed preschool for children ages 3-5, we offer a vibrant, play-based program that nurtures social, emotional, and cognitive development in a fun and engaging way.

We proudly follow Alberta’s Flight Curriculum, a play-based, child-led approach that supports young learners in developing independence, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Our program is guided by the interests of our students, meaning every day is filled with exciting new adventures! With a wide variety of materials and resources at their fingertips, children are free to create, explore, and discover in a dynamic, hands-on environment that fuels their curiosity and growth.

We also ensure a smooth transition to Kindergarten by aligning with our school’s "Get Ready for School" curriculum—giving our Little Steps students a head start on key early learning skills while still embracing the joy of play.

At Little Steps, we make learning fun, friendships flourish, and confidence soar. Come take the first step with us—you and your child will love it here!

Meet Our Teacher

Lori

At Little Steps, we are blessed to have Ms. Giles, an experienced and passionate Early Childhood Educator (Level 3) who has been working in Pre-K and Kindergarten settings since 2015. She believes that learning should be exciting, hands-on, and filled with wonder—bringing the world into the classroom through engaging activities, exploration, and play.

For Ms. Giles, connection is everything. She is dedicated to building strong relationships with students, families, and the community, ensuring that every child feels welcome, valued, and supported from the moment they walk through the door. She creates a warm and inviting environment where children feel safe to learn, grow, and express themselves.

With her creativity, energy, and love for teaching, Ms. Giles makes every day an adventure, sparking curiosity and a love of learning!

Located right inside Christ-King Catholic School, our Little Steps students enjoy the perfect balance of their own special environment while also having access to fantastic school amenities like the gym and library—setting them up for a smooth transition into Kindergarten and beyond!

The classroom is thoughtfully designed with neutral tones and an open, inviting layout, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere for little learners. With rotating centers, there’s always something new and exciting to explore, sparking curiosity and fostering hands-on learning.

Each child has their own locker within the classroom, making it easy to access snacks, belongings, and personal items throughout the day. Plus, with a private bathroom inside the classroom, there’s no need to worry about little ones navigating the hallways.

Support for Every Little Learner – Because Early Intervention Matters!

At Little Steps, we know that early intervention is key to helping children develop the skills they need for lifelong success. That’s why we’re proud to offer access to specialized paraprofessional services for students who qualify, ensuring they get the support they need when it matters most.

Through our school, Little Steps students can receive Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Occupational Therapy (OT) services, providing early support in communication, motor skills, and overall development. We are blessed to partner with Communication Options Inc. and Achieve OT Ltd., who visit our program monthly to work with our students.

Additionally, we have an in-house Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP-A) who works weekly with our Little Steps learners, providing hands-on support to ensure each child reaches their full potential.

Research shows that the earlier children receive support, the more effective it is in building a strong foundation for future learning. At Little Steps, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing, and enriching environment where all children can learn, grow, and thrive with confidence!

No Fundraising or Mandatory Volunteering!

At Little Steps, we understand that families are busy, especially with young children, so we don’t require any fundraising or mandatory volunteer hours throughout the year. Your time is precious, and we don’t want to add extra to your plate. Of course, if you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you – but it’s always your choice!

Stettler Regional Daycare Walking Service

Between Stettler Regional Daycare and Little Steps, we provide safe and reliable walkovers for students to and from our Little Steps program during the day. Busy parents can rest easy knowing transportation between programs is taken care of – one less thing to worry about in your day!

No Snow Days!

Our Little Steps program follows the same school calendar as Christ-King Catholic School – when the school is closed for holidays or PD days, Little Steps is also closed. To ensure fairness, if the Mon/Wed class has fewer days due to holidays, we add extra Friday classes to balance the schedule with the Tues/Thurs classes. Plus, on bus cancellation days, Little Steps remains open for families who can arrive safely.

Little Steps Information Night

We will be hosting a Little Steps Pre-Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, April 16th. It is drop-in style from 4:30-6:30pm where parents and potential students can come and see the classroom, meet Ms. Giles and ask their questions!
